Diary
28 April 2001
Another 2 days of practical training coming up tomorrow and Monday so next entry will be 1 May. Another non-descript day today, rain and food and sleep dominated.........again.
27 April 2001
Slightly better weather today , the sun has decided to show its face so I spent a little time in the garden. Thomas and Runcie were with me, stretched out on the gravel sunning their tummies. Buster has never been an outdoor cat and is nearly always to be found on the bed and he didn't let me down today. As for Georgie, well she was out and about all over the place, loves the outdoors but generally prefers it when it is not raining.
26 April 2001
Parents off home to Norfolk today so the affection will once again have to be shared. That won't go down very well I am sure. Didn't do a great deal after they left, we had 3 downpours of large hail so we all stayed in the warm.
25 April 2001
Georgie has finally decided that she doesn't want to be left out of the attention. She is allowing herself to be stroked and picked up. This all started with her being groomed which she just can't resist. I think she has found out what she has been missing during the last 3 years.
24 April 2001
Out all day today so fish and chips for tea. That's 3 adults and 4 cat portions please. All the cats had a small portion of cod, no chips and decided that they could put up with being left all day provided I dished up cod in the future. We will see.
23 April 2001
Well I think the feeling is that I can neglect them anytime I want if this is the result. All 4 of them now being totally spoilt! Titbits from the table, cuddles on demand, they think this is great. Thomas who as you may recall is very wary of all newcomers wouldn't go near either of my parents when last seen in December although viewed them with curiousity. This time, after initial hesitancy he has spent most of the day lapping up attention from my Dad. Buster and Runcie have had their share too however, Georgie is still being wary.
20 April 2001
Still sulking, however my work is almost complete so I will have at least achieved what I wanted. The next 2 days are taken up with practical work so next entry will be 23 April.
19 April 2001
The cats feel they are being neglected at the moment! I have my parents visiting on Sunday for a few days and I am trying to get my study papers out of the way before they arrive so that I am totally free next week. This is not appreciated!
18 April 2001
I spent all day at the PC working and as once again winter has descended the cats found their favourite spots and slept.
17 April 2001
Not quite sure what happened this evening but, one minute all four cats were eating supper and the next? Well Georgie shot upstairs, Thomas flew into the lounge, Buster looked as though his eyes were about to mimic flying saucers and Runcie? she carried on eating. I can only assume as both Thomas and Buster gingerly investigated the cat flap that another cat, presumably Patches, had tried to come in uninvited.
16 April 2001
A Bank holiday today and guess what? Yep another cold and damp day. Met a friend for lunch who came back to the house afterwards and spoilt ALL they cats, well all that she saw because as usual Georgie was nowhere to be seen. One hand on Thomas, one hand on Buster and Runcie on her lap. They loved it.
15 April 2001
Thomas was admired by my neighbours today, although they were aware that a ginger tom had been coming around on a regular basis they had no idea that he had actually moved in and had, surprisingly enough never seen him. He of course lapped up all the praise.
14 April 2001
Georgie came in looking as though she had slept in loose grass and mud. She was covered in dirt and grass, I just know she does this on purpose to get a long groom, it took well over half an hour to get her looking at her best. Now I expect she'll be straight back to where ever it was she came from! As for the others well as ONCE AGAIN it was wet and cold they all (sensibly) stayed in.
8 April 2001-13 April 2001
What a very boring week as far as cat activity! I have to admit I haven't been about much so may well have missed all sorts of interesting behaviour but, whilst I was at home .........nothing.
7 April 2001
This morning I was woken by what appeared to be the cat fight of the century! The screaming would wake the dead. By the time I got downstairs it was all over but it seem that Thomas had come to the end of his tether with the "spit & run" and had actually bowled her over as there was tortoise coloured fur all over the hall. A quick check on Georgie showed there were no ill effects, she probably lost the amount of fur that she did due to the time of year. Anyway, for the rest of the day she kept her distance.
6 April 2001
Thomas decided last night that it was once again his turn to sleep in the bedroom, Georgie as it turned out was quite happy with this, she finds the the new chairs in the conservatory very much to her liking. All went well until 7.30am when Thomas wanted to out, no problem except Georgie was on the other side of the bedroom door. Now why they don't just ignore each other I really don't know but there waS alot of spitting and snarling, all, I might add from Georgie until she eventually backed off and let Thomas pass.
5 April 2001
Georgie has certainly been out amongst the long wet grass! She has come back all matted and soggy. Once she had dried out a bit I started to tease out the knots, she loves it I am pleased to say, there are times I think she gets into a mess just so I spend longer grooming her.
4 April 2001
Back to a normal English Spring, rain, rain and more rain, so again 4 cats found themselves warm cosy spots in the house and slept and ate and did not much else, who can blame them.
3 April 2001
Thomas was out when I got up this morning, not like him at all. I fed the others and put Buster and Runcie in the dining room to have theirs and then opened the back door and called him. Within a couple of seconds he came trotting round the corner at the bottom of the garden, however, he was closely followed by Patches (see January) there was no animosity and they seemed quite friendly, worrying that, I don't want another waif and stray!
1 & 2 April 2001
I was out working all day so there was nothing as such to comment on, the cats appeared to have again taken umbridged at being left on their own for the whole day and sulked for a while and then demanded to be fed......yet again. However, we had 2 very warm days so I think they spent most of them asleep somewhere in the sun.
