August 2002
The move that was supposed to take place on 2 Aug didn't! So now I am surrounded by more boxes, have no carpet and no date apart from the sometime after 19 August but before the end. Definite date should be available next week, lets hope so. The good thing is the cats have got used to the upheaval and now think it is normal.
Terrific storm
yesterday,
so fierce that Georgie, who is normally not at all bothered by these things
started to howl and then hid under the bed for 4 hours. Runcie sat up with a
start after on particularly loud crack of thunder and looked at me as if to
say " ooh, what was that? Nothing, must have been my imagination"
and went back to sleep. Being partially deaf has its advantages.
We are moving! Well, almost anyway. The last house fell through, again! So, I am moving into a temporary home, the furniture is going into storage and the "little darlings"? they are going to a first class hotel. The brochure says, and I quote:
"The apartments are spacious, strong and interestingly constructed within beautiful, tranquil, old but well maintained farm buildings. Heated in winter but cool in summer. Pillows with fresh slips provided. Everything thoroughly hygenic at all times. The apartments have loads of room to exercise in, plus built in bedroom with dimplex radiator and window to outside."
Sounds wonderful, all the same I shall miss them as it is likely to be for a minimum of 4 weeks. That said, the diary will not therefore be updated until they and I are happily housed in our little cottage in Filby, Norfolk.
