December 2002
Wet, wet, wet! Rain, rain and more rain! The unmade track at the front of the cottage is a quagmire. The cats, surprisingly, do not want to go out at all. Coupled with the rain there is also alot of work going on next door with workmen constantly in and out, lots of noise, oh, and the odd bulldozer! So I have 4 quite contented house cats.
On one of her rare trips out, Georgie, who still prefers to go out in the evenings
came back with a little present for me, a mouse! Alive! I grabbed the cat, kicking
and squirming whilst a friend retrieved the mouse and put outside. There are
times when I am really not that keen on cats.
Still,
I supose it was decidely better than her finding a rat. We still have problems
with unwanted guests. I wouldn't mind quite so much if they had their parties
quietly, but, being nocturnal of course they are damned noisy when I want to
sleep. Hopefully, with the roof next door being nearly completed they will be
moving on to pastures new soon.
Our first Christmas in the cottage, the artificial tree that I bought about 5 years ago for the lounge in a Victorian house (7 foot) is a little too tall for a small Norfolk cottage! The top actually touches the ceiling, may have to think about a smaller on for next year. Georgie thought I was having a game with her as she could reach the branches via the open tread staircase.
I am away for the actual Christmas period, today is 24 December and last night there were NO noises from the loft, I wonder, could this be the last of them? I am back on 27 December, will update you in January.
Happy Christmas.
