June 2002
Sorry for the delay but the house "move" has taken up most of
my time recently. I was gazumped on the first house I had chosen but luckily
found another quite quickly, this time in Mundesley, Norfolk, about 6 miles
from the original.
This
should suit the cats better as there is at least a small garden although it
needs a great deal of work!
As for the little darlings, they are being microchipped one by one in preparation, Buster is the last to be done but as he gets so stressed when in the basket I am leaving him until just before we move. I have some cat "Valium" for him for the actual move so I hope he will be ok during the approximate 2-3 hour journey.
Georgie was done last week, she is so full of herself usually but get her onto the vet table and she squashes herself on the table like a large flat furry hot water bottle! So docile and rag doll like. The needle used to insert the microchip is very thick and about 2" long, Georgie it seems has a tough skin and it wasn't as easy as the other 2 but, she was very good and didn't make a sound.
I was out in the garden the other evening and happened to glance up at the roof, there, sitting on the chimney stack was a white and splodge cat with a tortoiseshell tail that I had never seen before. How did it get on the roof and where had it come from? As I watched it moved carefully down the roof and on to next door and made its way to the roof window that was open 4 doors down. A new cat on the block!
The next night
as I was going to bed I pulled the large window a little more closed and as
I looked out, there, on the conservatory roof was this cat again! It looked
at me and I at it. Well fed, very well cared for with a lovely glossy coat and
bright eyes. Once again it tiptoed back along the roof to the house 4 doors
down. Later that night I heard movement outside, looking out the cat was back,
this time on the garden fence balancing between the 2 gardens. It jumped into
next doors garden and was immediately replaced by Georgie, obviously watching
from a safe distance.
The next day it was in the garden, this time Georgie was having none of it,
you could almost see her thoughts " I didn't chase that ginger thing away
and now its moved in, that is NOT happening again!" She chased the new
arrival down the garden, up the lane and ensured it was safely in its own garden
before coming home, tail held high.
The new cat is female and on heat! Spent most of the morning teasing a poor ginger tom who thought his luck was in!
Thomas has been weighed, now 6.45kg and really enjoying his new found energy. Found his toy basket and played for a good half hour with a toy mouse and ball. Looking so much better!
