June 2006

As last month was so very wet, so this months is baking hot and dry! Wonderful. Cats love it, out in the garden moving from sun to shade and back all day long, just breaking every now and again for food and water.

However, they have been a little active. Came home from work and found..........1 dead bird in back garden, 1 dead rat in front garden and then Milly next door played "tag" with a baby rabbit, up and down the garden just bouncing beside it, then, fatal mistake by rabbit, it went into the undergrowth followed by Milly AND Thomas AND Georgie! I am afraid it died of shock. Next day, Milly has another, much younger and smaller than the previous night but, rescued and released unharmed this time. If only they would stick to rats.

Now we have moles in the back garden, the soil started to move up and down and Georgie stopped her after breakfast wash n tidy in mid flow and could not believe what she was seeing. Think I have discouraged them by "planting" glass beer bottles (don't have milk bottles), not seen any movement since. Could do without moles in the garden please.

Ok, spoke too soon, more evidence of moles! More bottles and also getting some anti mole bulbs, interesting concept, they evidently smell repulsive to moles so they will move elsewhere, we will see. Mouse found in lounge Friday morning, dead this time and, thankfully an equally dead (small) rat under a low coffee table! Don't know who is responsible mind.

Dull and overcast with hint of rain in the air, cats? all 3 asleep on the spare bed.
