May 2006
This month is slipping soggily by and I don't really have anything of interest that the mad 3 have got up to! I think, because it has been so wet and miserable that basically they have felt that winter or at least Autumn is till with us and and such have stayed indoors. No rabbits, no mice, no birds despite the fact we have blue tits happily using the vacant nesting box at the back of the house and also blackbirds having returned to the nest they built last year just above the nesting box, I have to say I am very pleased they are being left in peace, long may it continue.
Still in the middle of the drought here in Norfolk. I have only managed to fill a large water butt and 2 dustbins full of rain water in the last week, the ovberflow pipe is now back in the drain, no more spare capacilty! I hope Anglian water have the same problem. Dry today, sunny but a cold strong wind, cats have remained indoors, Thomas on the bed, Buster on one sofa and Georgie on the other although, I think she has now gone out.
A great deal of interest is still being shown in the nesting box at the back of the house, we have new arrivals, very noisy when demanding food but they have 2 very attentive parents, the cats watch but, to date have made no attempt to investigate further. Milly has had a look too.
Neighbours were away for one night so I volunteered to feed the "pets", I went to check on the "farm" when I got home from work and was very surprised to find that both Thomas and Buster came with me, kept clear of the pigs mind you!
Feeding next morning at 5am was a novelty, just me and the animals that required breakfast oh, and a rat in the food store, the one time I could have done with all of the cats with me and where were they? my 3 and the 2 belonging to the absent neighbours nowhere to be seen, typical! Still all pigs, chickens, turkeys and ducks fed and watered, quick bath, breakfast for me, 5 cats and 8 guinea pigs then I could get off to work.
