Filby Garden

Ok, a new garden, a blank canvass, well almost anyway. Click on each image for a larger view.

March 2003

If you haven't guessed, this is the front door! All the garden is at the front of this cottage with just a tiny graveled courtyard at the back which houses the tool shed and water butt. The small gravel path to the right is simply to allow me access to the window.

March 2003

The view from the front door, huge isn't it? The archway was already in situ as was the washing line. The lawn (I use the term lightly is a bit on the tatty side, so a weed and feed is in order I think. I just wonder how long I will allow the lawn to stay bearing in mind my previous garden.

July 2003

A smidgen of an improvement to the right hand side of the front door I think. The introduction of mainly annuals in the form of pansies, antirrhinum's, morning glory and asters, also loose-strife,monbretia, anemones, he be, iceberg plant and chrysanthemums.

July 2003

The birdbath is still in place as is the archway but the washing line has now gone. Lawn is still clinging on and the weed and feed did make a bit, not much though, of a difference.

July 2003

A slightly wider view of the front shows the lovely way in which the wisteria has covered the front porch.

July 2003

Beside the water feature we now have a buddleia, a weilgia and a forsythia, plus some annuals in the form of geranium and sweet pea, most of this will have to be reallocated though, the oil tank for the central heating will have to go here!

April 2004

The muddy weedy patch of grass has now gone and is being replaced by pea shingle.

Buddleia, Hebe, Kerria and Forsythia will hopefully screen the oil tank which at the moment is most unsightly

April 2004

Where the summer bedding was last year has been replaced by spring bulbs, white and lemon fragranced Cheerfulness.

Once these have died back, summer bedding will again go in.

April 2004

Dustbins and bike will have to go!

August 2004

What a difference a few months make, the virginia creeper really taking over!

August 2004

The oil tank is still far too exposed, there is a small Hebe that is now in the front of it, a quick grower (hopefully)

April 2005

Ivy round the window, Daffodils, Narcissi, Dicentra and although not easily seen Pulmonaria

April 2005

The Clematis over the arch is just coming into bloom, Daffodils and Narcissi are beginning to go over and the gravel is at last starting to be softened round the edges

April 2005

Looking very Spring like

July 2006

Very hot summer, the hanging basket is already past its best

July 2006

New bird table, VERY popular! Have a feed and a bath, possibly a shower if I leave the water feature on, will have to start charging!

April 2007

Lots been done and it is certainly a low maintenance garden, garden bench fell apart though, have to find another so I can enjoy it!

April 2007

Wisteria is out (very early) the scent through the bedroom window is lovely, Broom in full flower as in the bleeding Heart (white and pink)

Ceonothus is also showing its colour however, will not be here next year, too big!
